Last weeks heavy rain which may have led to a drop in the bay's salanity seems to have taken it's toll on the fishing , along with a skyrocketing ocean temp of the low 70's has "proded" the cows [ stripers ] Northward. With less rain over the last few days the fishing seems to have started to rebound in the bay. We have finished up with chasing bunker schools for now as trips which ran as far North as Spring lake [ just shy of Asbury Park ]found only huge schools of bunker swimming carefree with only slight signs of agitation with no hook ups or run offs. We will continue to target schoolie stripers , blues, fluke , and weakfish in the bays all summer long as they will usually provide plenty of action. Along with offshore trips to wrecks , reefs and ridges for bonitas, false albies, mahi...... On the up side of the fishing scene , As of 6/29/2009 pm 2-5lbs blues were all over the inlet area with a few schoolies stripers thrown into the mix to provide some action on artificials and wreck fishing has been very rewarding with some "Reel" nice seabass and ling along with throw back blackfish it makes for some "drop and reel" fishing action ! coupled with the bags of snow white delicious fillets these trips are flat out a blast! |

Our bay plays host to the prized striped bass , as well as trophy sea trout aka weakfish, slammer bluefish, large and small, and summer flounder / fluke just to name a few.
Moving off the coast of Barnegat, the opportunities are endless from Trophy Striped Bass Fishing [20-50lb class fish] to fishing our wrecks both natural and artificial , providing " drop and reel " type fishing ! Seabass, Blackfish, Porgies, Fluke, Ling, and a cast of others answering the call on a regular basis making for an interesting and exciting days fishing !
Reel Fantasea also fishes our offshore lumps and ridges for Tuna , Atlantic bonitas, False Albacore, Mahi Mahi, Bluefish with a showing from various other species such as Spanish and King Makeral.
